1. Project Introduction
Name : Chicago HomeArchitect: Tadao AndoLocation: Chicago, USCompletion: 1998
It is Ando's first free-standing building in the United States which is a introverted house in his signature concrete, steel, and glass style. Very little is visible of the house. A monolithic concrete wall with a large steel door faces the street, while garage doors and more concrete back the alley.
The two-story house is a long U-shape in plan, wrapping itself around a reflecting pool to create an oasis within the city.
2. Parametric Mass Model
a. Create a conceptual mass file.
From information collecting, I got many detailed size data. Based on this data, I made 4 level as reference of the mass model.
b. Based on floor plan data, I created each floor and create form into mass model.
3. Parametric Facada
The facade of this project is simple, dividing by vertical windows. What I need to do is create window family and load into surface.
a. Open family file named Curtain Panel Pattern Based.
b. Choose four element to create form as window, change material into Glass.
c. Add Point Element, and create a cretangular chain of lines by the Point Element. Choose Rectangle and Form Elements to create form.
d. Load family into project.
f. Choose surface and divide surface. Change numbers of U Grid and V Grid.
g. Change the pattern from No Pattern to the one we just loaded in.
h. Finish whole mass model and load into project.
